The biggest flood alleviation scheme ever undertaken in Scotland was officially opened today.
Work is to begin next week on the second phase of a flood protection scheme for Newmill.
The misery of flooding will be a thing of the past for most of Elgin’s homes and businesses following practical completion of the £86million flood alleviation scheme. The final piece of engineering, a footbridge over the River Lossie, was formally opened today (Tuesday). All that remains is landscaping and ancillary works.
